Norwegian AI sandbox
The sandbox reports have become de facto interpretive guidance well beyond Norway, and the model was one of the references for the AI Act's own regulatory sandbox requirement. For Norwegian organisations it is the cheapest route to legal certainty on a novel AI use case.
What it is
A supervised environment in which selected organisations develop AI systems with direct guidance from the Norwegian Data Protection Authority. Each project ends in a published report setting out how data-protection law applies to the specific use case.
